Fundraiser | Ironman Mont-Tremblant

Parkinson’s disease is not a sprint, it is journey. Family, friends, caregivers, patients; all are part of the long journey. I want to dedicate the preparation for this race to all the patients with Parkinson’s, their families, their caregivers- their Team. Have I ever done a triathlon – Never. Have I ever swam 3.8km- Never. Have I ever biked 180km – Never. Have I ever ran 42.2km after all that- Never, but I have the choice to try. I will dedicate this endeavor to those who can’t, because when ill, this choice is sometimes gone. I wish to raise awareness concerning this neurodegenerative disease, and inform people that sufferers of this disease must be treated with patience, and that it is a team that undertakes the illness, not only an individual.

I want to incite people to support research because without research, it is hard to find solutions. Without trials, studies, and awareness;finding solutions takes longer, and may never be found. If we put our minds and bodies together, we can achieve amazing things.  I hope to encourage people to be compassionate with their surroundings, and empathize with people affected by parkinson’s disease, if we do so, we can make wonderful changes.

Follow my journey at www.weraceforparkinson.org as I discover, train, volunteer, read, and educate myself about this illness. Discover with me how we can all make a small difference.

Cesar Fuentes-Ortega

Each plays an essential role in helping affected individuals maintain an active lifestyle, and it is important that they work together to keep people moving.
