During this Symposium, Dr Philippe Huot, neurologist, presented the study of the neuropharmacology of the basal ganglia and how the modulation of two brain chemicals, serotonin and glutamate, could open the door to new therapies to treat Parkinson’s disease.

 

Dr Philippe Huot

Dr. Philippe Huot is a neurologist specializing in movement disorders at the McGill University Hospital Center, associate professor at McGill University and researcher at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital (The Neuro). Dr Huot is using experimental models of Parkinson’s disease to develop drugs for the condition.

“My laboratory is as much involved in discovering treatments for the dyskinesia and psychosis observed in Parkinson’s disease as in developing a drug that would make it possible to obtain a complete cure” – Dr Philippe Huot
