Discover the inspiring testimony of Michel Lajoie, who released his very first CD in 2020 for the benefit of Parkinson Québec.
My name is Michel Lajoie, I am 52 years old, I was born in Lachine. I have had Parkinson’s disease since I was 46 years old.
I have a lucky star, I have always been pampered by the love of people. I realize now that I need it more and more. We have ‘downs’, and our friends, family, cheer us up… I am well surrounded by my family, my partner, and I have my daughter, who is a love, it is my greatest accomplishment. relationship I have with my daughter. She helps me a lot: just the love she gives me… No need to do more than that!
Releasing a record was a little dream: in my family, several people sing, but I had never dared. When I was diagnosed; I said to myself: “why not make these dreams come true?”
Basically, I want to leave a memory. One day I will no longer be there, and my daughter will be able to listen to this CD, it will give her fond memories. I told myself that I was going to raise money for Parkinson Québec, so it was less embarrassing to say that I was making a music CD! I was pleasantly surprised because I sold exactly 261 records, for an amount of $ 2,615 for Parkinson Québec.
Recently someone who heard my record contacted me, they’re in music but doesn’t compose. I have always liked to write texts. We are going to make a record with original music and lyrics, we have already recorded a song called “My most beautiful smile”. I hope to raise more money for Parkinson Québec, I consider myself to be in good shape despite the illness, I still have a lot of energy!
My advice for people with the disease: be very active, live from day to day, appreciate small pleasures, have small challenges, dreams to achieve, as I did with my album for Parkinson Québec!
