Parkinson Québec is pleased to announce its most recent partnership with the “Chevaliers de Colomb”.
The “Chevaliers de Colomb” is a non-profit charitable organization, dedicated to charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. Their mission is to help organizations in need of support or assistance. To this end, they choose every 2 years (each time the mandate of the State Deputy changes) and for a period of 2 years, a cause for which they are committed.
It is with great enthusiasm and kindness that Mr. Richard Paratte, State Deputy of the “Chevaliers de Colomb”, who took office on July 1, 2020, announced the name of the organization chosen for the next two years.
The Women’s Committee of the “Chevaliers de Colomb” under the chairmanship of Mrs. France Paratte has chosen Parkinson Québec as its cause for the next two years.
Working together in a spirit of mutual aid and driven by the common goal of helping their fellow human beings, this new partnership will allow members of the Order to help Quebecers whose lives are touched by Parkinson’s disease by raising funds, contributing to awareness campaigns, supporting research and also by improving the visibility of the services offered by Parkinson Québec.
Mr. Paratte and his wife are already intimate with the disease since their family is directly affected by Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease is part of the lives of more than 25,000 people in Québec. It is a disease that affects not only the daily lives of patients but also their spouses, families, friends and colleagues.
In total, more than 100,000 people in Québec are affected by the incapacitating effects of this disease.
Mr. Paratte and his spouse therefore called on all members of the Quebec districts of the “Chevaliers de Colomb” to help Parkinson’s Québec’s mission through their participation in the fundraising activities they will be organizing over the next two years.
Who are the “Chevaliers de Colomb?
Members of the “Chevaliers de Colomb” are practicing lay Catholics who accept and choose to live according to principles and values they have adopted.
There are 80,000 members in Québec who are convinced, dedicated and have a true sense of belonging. Men committed to concrete projects adapted to different environments. Men who integrate themselves into the life and smooth functioning of their respective Councils and who are involved in tasks that are essential to the life of society or the community.
The principles of the “Chevaliers de Colomb”
Men who live the four principles of the movement: CHARITY, UNITY, FRATERNITY and PATRIOTISM. Men who want their wives and families to participate in different ways in Colombian life.
Men who are part of a movement that has been in existence in Quebec for over a century and that perpetuates a long tradition of charitable activities and works!
